I Put On For My City
As pitchers and catchers report and I buy tickets for my annual pilgrimage to Mesa, AZ, it’s hard to escape the feeling that this year could be ours. With the young, revitalized Hawks on top of the division, one has to wonder if it’s time for Chicago to end another drought. As the trade deadline looms in the NBA, we are offered a glimmer of hope towards a Bulls playoff run. Throughout all the trials and tribulations, ups and downs, living and dying with our teams, expecting nothing less than perfection, coping with disappointment and finally rejoicing when a team does it, rooting for Chicago teams is a truly unique experience…

If Glenn Beck Embraced Sean_Hef’s love of Soccer
So, for some reason, my retarded pseudo-roommate compared Sean_Hef to Glenn Beck today in the comments of a great Chicago post Sean wrote. While nothing could be further from the truth (I know this because I'm not filled with blind rage every time I read or hear something Sean has said, or see his face) I thought it would be an interesting little exercise to simulate how Glenn would defend the so-called "Beautiful Game".

An Open Letter to Sean_Hef and Blake, or How the Sweet Science Soldiers On

To My Esteemed Co-Editors:
Who is your guys' dealer? I want to try whatever it is you're smoking. Pacquiao/Mayweather on a major network? If and when that happens, it will be the most lucrative fight in history.

Mayweather, Boxing Still on Top of Fight Game
The weekend of September 18th, 19th and 20th may well have been the best for sport thus far in 2009. Penant chases all over Major League Baseball continued to burn while two of college ball's top 10 were upset and the NFL provided an exciting week two wrought with rivalries, surprises and the stadium of the century. But for all the highly publicized matchups this weekend, none were as highly anticipated for fight fans as Floyd "Money" Mayweather Vs. Juan Manuel Marquez and Boxing Vs. The UFC.

R.I.P. John Hughes

We lost a good one yesterday. The man who gave us Ferris Bueller; The Griswolds; Trains, Planes and Automobiles; Uncles Buck; Home Alone; 16 Candles; The Breakfast Club and many many more. John Hughes was a great Chicagoan and a great film maker. He was 59.
Check out this tribute video. Could have been more comprehensive, but mad props for the use of Baba O'Reilly:
