Czech Legend Nedved Reaffirms Interest in MLS

by Sean Heffernan
Former Juventus hero Pavel Nedved publicly admitted his interest in continuing his footballing career after announcing his retirement earlier this year and it seems that the Czech international is keen on playing in the United States. The 35-year-old midfielder told Goal.com Italia that ... "I needed a vacation, but now after two months, I am frightened of a future without football."
When asked about where he will play next Nedved confirmed suspicions over the possibility of joining a MLS club replying, "The future? Me and my family would like to experience America."
It seems that Nedved is also mulling over a return to the Czech Republic's national team as he has been in contact with Czech Republic head coach Ivan Hasek. Nedved was one of the few bright spots in 2006 during the Czech Republic's disappointing World Cup run in Germany.
"I spoke to Ivan Hasek and promised that I would consider coming back. However, first I have to start playing somewhere, then I can think about the national team."
Nedved is currently training with a local club in Western Bohemia and will likely to be back on a pitch somewhere soon. The footballer may have announced his retirement prematurely as Nedved admitted "It's impossible for me not to think about football."
